Darla (1975–1992), icône queer méconnue mais infâme sous le nom de Précieux dans le thriller de 1991, Le Silence des Agneaux, a connu une carrière cinématographique courte mais marquante, dePee-wee’s Big Adventure (1985) à Batman Returns (1992). Une Soirée avec Darla de Pompom Palace (Amy Fung et Bernadette Houde) propose une réinterprétation où la petite bichon frisé blanche devient le personnage principal d’une nouvelle histoire. Au-delà de l’hommage rendu à Darla, cette œuvre revisite l’histoire complexe de la représentation queer et trans dans le cinéma hollywoodien, offrant une perspective alternative où le queer n’est pas diabolisé mais au contraire considéré comme un mode de vie fondamental.

An Evening with Darla by Pompom Palace (Amy Fung and Bernadette Houde) offers a corrective narrative where the petite white Bichon Frisé is edited into a new storyline as the main character.
